Things I wish I knew, before social media activism.

Tell as many people as you can about the crimes, or try and bring them to God?

When talking about oppression, we often debate how the crimes are objectively wrong instead of bringing someone to Allah.

What would happen if we stopped trying to convince non-believers that crimes against humanity are not acceptable. Why would someone who worships power and money care about your pain, or about what is objectively right?

We often list all of the heinous things the ruler has done. They know what they have done. Allah knows what they have done. This is only going to dysregulate us.
“Allah reassured, ‘Have no fear! I am with you, hearing and seeing.’” (20:46)
Allah is All-Seeing. We do not need to watch violence for the crime to be recorded by Allah.
When Prophet Musa spoke to Pharaoh, he was calling him to Allah.
“Go forth, you and your brother, with My signs and never falter in remembering Me.” (20:42)
This would help our hearts because, in calling someone to Allah, we are reminding ourselves of Allah—and in turn allowing our hearts to have peace, grounding ourselves in The Lord and in truth.

Allah’s response to Prophets dua was “remain steadfast.”
Not go throughout the land chanting death to Pharaoh.
Not witness as many of his crimes as possible.
Not tell as many people as you can about the horrific things he has done.
We need to start bringing the conversation back to God, and speaking softly to people when we do. For Allah said:
“Speak to him gently.” (20:44)

We need to stand in our power—in our knowledge of God.
We need to make sure our own lives are aligning with the will of Allah, and we need our conversations to be God-centered, even when speaking to the Pharaoh.

They want us completely engulfed in tragedy. We are not even in the war zone, yet it is intoxicating our very being. We are in fight or flight, fighting other believers for not being as paralysed or loud about tragedy and opression.
They are winning.
Not because this country or that country isn’t doing anything.
It is because, as an ummah, we think power comes from the masses. That birds defeating an army of elephant is just a story to be recited.

There is no power nor might except with Allah.
